Process: Mojo points

Many schools, inspired by the story of Harry Potter, divide students into "Houses" and organize competitions where each student can earn points for themselves and their House in their daily lives. Schools come up with their own rules for awarding points. It can be based on academic achievements, sports, or school events where students demonstrate their abilities. The results are periodically announced in assemblies and displayed on school screens. All of this activity motivates students to perform good deeds.

However, there is one problem. In Hogwarts, the Magical Hourglasses were responsible for keeping track of points, but regular schools don't have them, so school staff have to use separate spreadsheets to enter points. A designated person periodically consolidates them. We decided to add a bit of magic to our Mojo service and implemented the HousePoints module.

The process flow includes the following stages:

  1. Creation of houses and their names.
  2. Allocation of students to houses.
  3. Creation of criteria and determination of the number of points for each criterion.
  4. Addition of points by school staff.
  5. Automatic calculation of points for a specified period of time.

Possible criteria include:

  • Helping others
  • Volunteering
  • Healthy lifestyle
  • Academic achievements
  • Creative activities, etc.

The competition between Houses is visualized. In their personal dashboard, students can see not only their personal points but also how the competition is progressing with other Houses.
